Mixed Company Theatre produces innovative, socially relevant drama as a tool for positive change. Founded as an artist-run collective in 1983, Mixed Company Theatre is a nationally recognized not-for-profit that uses Forum Theatre and interactive arts to educate, engage and empower audiences in schools, communities and workplace. Forum Theatre is an interactive theatrical methodology that involves the audience in developing real-time strategies for dealing with social and personal issues.
On November 22nd for one night only, Mixed Company Theatre will showcase Showdown 2.0 and present the Third Annual STARS Awards. Doors open @ 6:30 pm. Event runs from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
Showdown 2.0 is an interactive, Forum Theatre performance that tackles the issue of bullying in an ever changing technological landscape. Developed in consultation with high school students, SHOWDOWN 2.0 is a hard-hitting and realistic portrayal of bullying and how technology is influencing the actions and outcomes of violence and harassment.
STARS Awards to be presented on November 22nd:
The Rising STAR Award
Presented to an individual youth (25 and under) who has demonstrated a commitment to educating, engaging, and empowering his/her peers and community to create positive solutions to challenging issues in communities, schools, or workplaces.
The Shooting STAR Award - for Organizations
Presented to a Mixed Company partner in community, government, or business that has demonstrated a commitment to theatre for social change values of educating, empowering, and engaging others through its' activities, policies and practices.
The Shining STAR Award - for Individuals
Presented to an individual who has used the power of art in any form to educate, engage, and empower communities for positive change.
